Kano Court Remands Man Over Alleged Killing After Phone Dispute

A Magistrate Court sitting at Nomansland, Kano State, has ordered the remand of a man identified as Mustapha Ismail Sheshe over allegations of culpable homicide in the Sheshe area of the state.

Mustapha Ismail Sheshe is accused of killing Halifa Tijjani following a dispute reportedly linked to a mobile phone.

According to court records, the incident allegedly occurred on December 26, 2025, at about 8:30 p.m., when the defendant is said to have stabbed the deceased in the chest with a knife during an argument.

The charge was read before Magistrate Aminu Abdul Salam at Magistrate Court No. 38. However, the defendant did not enter a plea, as the offence is beyond the court’s jurisdiction.

The prosecution requested an adjournment to enable it seek legal advice from the Kano State Ministry of Justice.

Following the application, the court ordered that the defendant be remanded in correctional custody pending further legal steps.

The matter has been adjourned to January 27, 2026, for mention and further proceedings.
