Court Hears Case of Man Accused of Raping, Killing Nine-Year-Old Girl in Kano

Kano State High Court on Wednesday heard the case against Mannir Ibrahim, who is accused of raping and killing a nine-year-old girl, an allegation he has denied.

The deceased, Rumaisa Sadik, was reportedly undergoing treatment for malaria at a pharmacy when the alleged incident occurred. The tragedy was said to have taken place on August 1, 2024, in Jaba town, Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State.

During the hearing, Inspector Ijibtil Mbambu, the police officer who conducted the investigation, was presented before the court by the prosecuting counsel, Barrister Lamido Abba Soran Dinki. The officer gave a detailed account of how the case was investigated.

Defense counsel, Barrister Ahmad Sani Bawa, cross-examined the investigating officer during the proceedings.

Following the testimony, the court adjourned the matter until February 5, 2026, to allow a medical expert who confirmed the child’s death to appear and give evidence.
