Police to Arraign Four Suspects Over Motorcycle Theft in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has announced plans to arraign four suspected members of a motorcycle theft syndicate following their arrest and the recovery of a stolen motorcycle.

The development is linked to an earlier police operation that led to the recovery of two motorcycles reported stolen within the state.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, the suspects were arrested after attempting to evade arrest by fleeing Ondo State.

Jimoh explained that the command relied on intelligence-driven operations to track and apprehend the suspects in Edo State.

He noted that the arrests followed a police briefing held on December 22, 2025, during which the Ondo State Police Command announced the dismantling of a motorcycle theft syndicate and the recovery of two stolen motorcycles.

“As a result of sustained intelligence-led policing, four additional suspects have been arrested and one TVS motorcycle recovered,” Jimoh stated.

The suspects, all male, were identified as:

  • Onyeka

  • Ekene

  • Sunday

  • Abubakar

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects made confessional statements and were actively involved in the theft operation.

The case is part of ongoing efforts to address motorcycle theft in Ondo State, a crime that has affected both urban and rural communities.

Jimoh confirmed that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

He assured residents that due process would be followed and that the police remain committed to holding offenders accountable under the law.

The police spokesperson reiterated the Ondo State Police Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

He quoted the Commissioner of Police as warning criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities, emphasizing that the command would continue to pursue suspects regardless of where they operate.

To strengthen security, tactical commanders and divisional police officers have also been directed to maintain a strong and visible security presence across Ondo State.
