CAC Delays New Fees and Penalties for Document Downloads on Company Portal

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced a one-month delay in the implementation of new charges and penalties tied to document downloads on its upgraded Company Registration Portal.

Originally scheduled to take effect on August 1, 2025, the enforcement will now begin on September 1, 2025.

In a public notice signed by the Commission’s management on Monday, the CAC said the decision was made in response to user feedback and observed technical challenges during the system upgrade rollout.

“This extension aims to give users more time to adapt and allow us to resolve ongoing access issues,” the statement read.

Under the new policy, penalties will apply for downloading registration documents more than seven days after filing. The move is part of broader changes to how the Commission handles post-incorporation filings and document retrievals.

Users have reported numerous difficulties, including:

  • Inability to download documents

  • Payment processing failures

  • Errors when filing post-incorporation documents for business names

  • Upload issues for required attachments

The CAC acknowledged these problems and said it is working closely with technical partners to stabilize the portal, without resorting to a full shutdown.

While the Commission says the September 1 deadline remains firm, it assures stakeholders of continued efforts to improve user experience and reduce disruptions.
