Lagos Shuts Down Light House Club in Lekki Over Noise Pollution Violations

A joint enforcement team from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps and the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has shut down Light House Club, located on Admiralty Way in Lekki, for violating environmental noise regulations.

The closure was announced by Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.

Wahab explained that the club was repeatedly warned about excessive noise levels and noncompliance with environmental laws, but failed to act, prompting the government to step in.

He stated that the closure would remain in effect until the club installs proper soundproofing systems and undergoes LASEPA verification to confirm that it now operates within approved decibel limits.

“The environmental rights of Lagos residents are not negotiable,” Wahab wrote. “The right of Lagosians to enjoy peace and quiet in their neighborhoods will always come before commercial interests.”

This action is part of an ongoing campaign by the state government to ensure entertainment venues operate within legal noise thresholds, protecting residents from chronic sound disturbances.
