Senator Ireti Kingibe Slams FCT Minister Wike Over 'Emperor Mentality' and Inaction
Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has openly criticized Minister Nyesom Wike, accusing him of operating with an “emperor mentality” and neglecting core issues affecting residents of Abuja.
In a candid interview with Channels Television, Kingibe said her attempts to avoid confrontation with Wike were misinterpreted as surrender, and that things in the FCT have only worsened under his leadership.
“I thought maybe easing off the criticism would encourage some collaboration. But it didn’t change anything,” she said.
“He just thought, ‘Oh, I’ve got her – end of matter.’ And now things are even worse.”
Kingibe explained that she initially toned down her public critique in a bid to foster cooperation and focus on delivering development to her constituents.
Her decision, however, yielded no results. According to her:
-
Critical issues in Abuja remain unresolved
-
Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) staff are not being paid
-
Wike has shown no interest in collaborative governance
“At least in my first year as senator, FCDA salaries were paid. Now, they’re not even being paid,” she lamented.
