Benue SEMA Restores Security Vehicle to Boost Safety in IDP Camps

In a proactive move to strengthen security and emergency response across Benue State’s Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) has refurbished a key security patrol vehicle.

The unveiling ceremony was held on Wednesday at the agency’s headquarters in Makurdi.

The restored vehicle is set to improve mobility, surveillance, and emergency response time for security personnel assigned to monitor and safeguard vulnerable residents across SEMA sites and IDP camps.

“This renovation underscores our dedication to not just humanitarian support, but to ensuring a secure environment for displaced families,” said Sir James Iorpuu, BSEMA Executive Secretary.

The project is part of the agency’s broader strategy to bolster safety measures, particularly in the face of rising security concerns across Benue State. According to Iorpuu, BSEMA is committed to protecting vulnerable populations and creating a safer environment despite ongoing regional challenges.

Some security personnel stationed at the IDP camps expressed gratitude to the agency, pledging to make responsible use of the vehicle in their efforts to safeguard lives.

“The safety of the displaced is not just a priority it’s a mandate we act on daily,” Iorpuu emphasized.
