Mamman Daura Hospitalized in London Amid Buhari Burial Preparations

As Nigeria prepares for the homecoming and burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari, reports have emerged that his close relative and longtime confidant, Mamman Daura, is currently hospitalized in London.

The Vice President’s Office confirmed the development in an official statement shared during Vice President Kashim Shettima’s visit to London, where he is facilitating arrangements for the repatriation of Buhari’s body.

According to Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communications, Shettima took time during the solemn diplomatic visit to check on Daura, who is reportedly recuperating at an unnamed hospital.

“The Vice President also visited the late President’s nephew, Malam Mamman Daura, who is recuperating in a London hospital,” Nkwocha said.

Preparations are in full swing for the arrival of Buhari’s remains, which are expected back in Nigeria tomorrow for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. The country has been in a period of national mourning since the announcement of the former president’s death.

Daura, a powerful figure behind the scenes during Buhari’s presidency, was widely regarded as one of the former president’s closest advisers. His health update adds another emotional layer to what is already a tense and somber period for the family and the nation at large.
