INEC to Conduct Credible Bye-Elections in Kaduna on August 16 — REC Assures
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has pledged a credible and transparent conduct of bye-elections scheduled for August 16, 2025 in Kaduna State.
Speaking during a One-day Stakeholder Engagement in Kaduna on Friday, Prof. Saidu Babura-Ahmad, the newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for the state, assured stakeholders that INEC is fully prepared and committed to a process that is “fair to all.”
Three Constituencies, Over 1,000 Polling Units
The bye-elections will be held in:

Zaria Kewaye State Constituency

Zaria Sabon Gari State Constituency

Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency
Babura-Ahmad revealed that:

1,169 polling units across 33 registration areas will be used

4,829 ad-hoc staff will be deployed
-
947 vehicles will be mobilized for election logistics
“We are working round the clock to ensure the elections are smooth, secure, and inclusive,” he stated.
Acknowledging the challenges posed by security threats in certain areas, the REC emphasized that INEC is taking “special measures” to ensure no eligible voter is disenfranchised.
“Realistic plans are in place to reach difficult terrains and black spots using all available means of transportation,” he noted.
He also called for continued support from stakeholders and urged political actors to play by the rules to safeguard the integrity of the process.
