Plateau Government Condemns Riyom Attack, Orders Troop Deployment

The Plateau State Government has strongly condemned the Monday night attack on Jebbu Binde village, located in the Ta-Hoss District of Riyom Local Government Area, which left over 30 people dead and many others injured.

In an official statement signed by Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, Commissioner for Information and Communication, the government described the attack as “senseless and unacceptable”, while offering condolences to the victims' families. 

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has ordered security agencies to intensify surveillance efforts and bring the perpetrators to justice, with an immediate deployment of more troops to the region.

“The Plateau State Government is deeply saddened by the unfortunate attack… Government sympathizes with the families of the victims and all those affected by this tragic incident,” the statement read. 

The government urged the communities of Bidi, Sopp, and neighboring villages to remain calm, avoid retaliation, and report suspicious activities to the authorities.

“Security remains our collective responsibility, and Government is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens,” the statement emphasized.

Residents have been assured that proactive steps are being taken to curb the recurring violence in Plateau State, particularly in volatile rural communities.
