Baba-Ahmed: No One Is Entirely Happy With Nigeria’s Direction
Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a leading voice in the Northern Elders Forum, has voiced deep dissatisfaction with the current state of Nigeria, saying no one can claim to be fully content with the direction the country is headed.
Speaking during an appearance on Politics Today, a Channels Television program aired on Wednesday, the former adviser to President Bola Tinubu cited rising hunger, insecurity, and bloodshed as major concerns.
Baba-Ahmed’s resignation from his advisory role didn’t come as a surprise to many in his circle.
“Some members of the Northern Elders Forum knew about my feelings about the job, about the administration, about the direction this country was going,” he explained. “They knew I was unhappy about many things. So it wasn’t entirely a surprise when I walked around and said I am back.”
He stressed that widespread hardship is making it difficult for any citizen, regardless of their political leanings, to be satisfied.
“Nobody would tell you that they are entirely happy with the way the country is going. There is too much hunger, insecurity, and bloodshed.”
