Five World Leaders to Attend President Buhari’s Janaiza(Funeral) in Daura

As Nigeria prepares to lay former President Muhammadu Buhari to rest, at least five presidents from around the world are expected to attend his Janaiza (Islamic funeral prayer) in Daura, Katsina State.


The update was shared by Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to Buhari, in a Facebook post on Monday.

“So far, five presidents are expected to attend the Janaiza of former President Muhammadu Buhari,” Ahmad wrote.

Buhari’s remains are expected to arrive from London by 12 p.m. on Tuesday, following his passing after a long illness on Sunday evening.

According to the Katsina State Government, burial rites will commence around 2 p.m. in his hometown of Daura, in keeping with Islamic customs.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently in London with other senior officials, overseeing the return of the late president’s body.

Presidents across Africa and other parts of the world have expressed condolences and paid tribute to Buhari’s legacy, highlighting his influence as a two-time democratically elected president and former military ruler.

His burial is expected to draw regional and international attention, underlining his decades-long impact on Nigerian politics and global diplomacy.
