Jigawa Governor Namadi Orders Praise for Top Teachers, Sanctions for Negligence
Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has directed the state’s education system to reward outstanding teachers while sanctioning those who fail to deliver on their responsibilities.

The governor made this statement during the 2025 Best Teachers Award Ceremony organized by the State Science and Technical Education Board at Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall, Dutse.
Governor Namadi described the award ceremony as one of the most important events in the state’s education sector, noting that recognizing excellence is as critical as holding underperformers accountable.
“If someone performs poorly and is sanctioned, then those who excel must be acknowledged and rewarded,” he said.
He urged other educational bodies, including the Islamic Education Bureau and the Senior Secondary School Management Board, to adopt similar incentive programs to motivate teachers across disciplines.
The governor stressed that quality education depends on skilled and motivated teachers, not just infrastructure.
Steps taken by the state government include:
Recruitment of teachers across all levels to reduce student-teacher ratios
Continuous training and retraining of teachers to keep pace with new trends in education
Significant investment in both infrastructure and human resources to ensure long-term educational progress
Governor Namadi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening education, praising the Science and Technical Schools Board for spearheading the Best Teacher Award.
He emphasized that the state will continue to:
Invest in school facilities and infrastructure
Provide resources to enhance teaching quality
Support teachers as the backbone of sustainable educational transformation
