Wike Flags Off Karu Road Projects, Promises More FCT Development
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has pledged accelerated development in Abuja and its satellite towns, saying the demand for projects is keeping him awake at night.

Speaking on Wednesday during the flag-off of the dualization and reconstruction of Karu Road, from Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction, Wike also announced the immediate reconstruction of several adjoining township roads.
According to the minister, former FCT Senator Philip Aduda and Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairman Christopher Maikalangu have been pushing for additional projects in the capital and surrounding areas.
Wike contrasted their approach with that of current FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe, quipping that governance requires practical relationship-building rather than “grammar.”
“Grammar does not bring projects. It’s relationships with people that matter. What we are talking about is bringing dividends of democracy to the people,” Wike said.
He added that because Aduda advocated well for his people, more Karu township roads were added to the project.
Wike listed several projects that would be undertaken immediately, including:
NIA Quarters Road
Pasi Road
Primus Hospital Road
Customs Clinic Junction to CBN Quarters Junction
Customs Clinic Junction to EFCC
The minister said the projects would include street lighting and must be completed within 10 months.
Wike stressed that the roadworks would transform the Karu area by:
Expanding business opportunities
Improving economic activity
Enhancing the overall quality of life for residents
“The essence of the Renewed Hope Agenda is to bring back hope to the people. Let Karu be the city everybody will be talking about,” he declared.
Wike urged residents to remember those pushing for the projects, particularly Maikalangu, as well as President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, when election time comes.
“Now that the Renewed Hope Agenda and the government of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is fulfilling promises, I hope that when the time comes, we will also fulfill our own promise. No be so?” Wike asked.
