Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduagha Threatens Legal Action Against NASS Clerk
Suspended Kogi Central senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduagha has warned that she will sue Kamorudeen Ogunlana, Clerk of the National Assembly, if she is not allowed to resume plenary by Monday, September 15, 2025.

Her legal team insists that the refusal to obey a court order reinstating her violates both the Constitution and the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.
In a letter dated September 10 and signed by her lawyer, Chief Michael Numa, SAN, Natasha cautioned the National Assembly against disregarding judicial authority.
The letter stated:
Any attempt to prevent her resumption will be met with legal proceedings.
Ogunlana would face consequences in both his personal and official capacity.
Failure to comply would trigger contempt proceedings and disciplinary action.
“Take notice that failure to comply by Monday, 15th September 2025, will leave us with no alternative but to initiate proceedings against you personally and in your official capacity,” the letter read.
Natasha’s counsel alleged that the National Assembly’s stance:
Breaches constitutional provisions guaranteeing lawmakers’ rights
Violates judicial orders, undermining the rule of law
Risks causing a breach of peace if left unchecked
Her legal team urged the clerk to “reconsider your untenable stance and comply with the Constitution and extant judicial orders.”
Natasha Akpoti-Uduagha was suspended from the Senate on March 6, 2025, following a heated altercation in the chamber. She has since challenged her suspension in court, arguing that it unlawfully denied her and her constituents proper representation.
The court ruling in her favor has yet to be implemented by the National Assembly, leading to her latest legal threat.
