Dangote Denies Involvement in Enugu Fatal Accidents

The Dangote Group has denied reports that its trucks were involved in two fatal road accidents that occurred on Wednesday in Enugu State, leaving ten people dead.

In a statement issued Thursday by company spokesperson Anthony Chijiena, Dangote stressed that the trucks involved in the separate collisions did not belong to the company or any of its subsidiaries.

The clarification aligns with an earlier statement from the Enugu State Police Command, which confirmed that the vehicles in question were operated by two logistics companies:

  • Visco Investment Global

  • Global Investment

Expressing condolences to the victims’ families, Dangote described the incidents as tragic while condemning the spread of misinformation linking the company to accidents without evidence.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the victims of these tragic incidents and their families,” the statement read.

The company also raised concerns over the misuse of its brand identity, warning against truckers who falsely display the Dangote logo on their vehicles.

Dangote Group reiterated its commitment to road safety standards and pledged to:

  • Enforce stricter oversight of brand usage.

  • Pursue legal action against unauthorized use of its name and logo.

  • Continue cautioning truck operators to desist from illegally branding vehicles with its identity.

The denial highlights ongoing challenges with misattribution in road accidents, where companies with large fleets are often blamed without verification. It also underscores the importance of brand protection and the dangers of unauthorized logo use.
