PenCom Launches Pension Revolution 2.0 for Nigerian Workers
The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has announced a major reform called Pension Revolution 2.0, aimed at restoring dignity to retirees and expanding pension services to Nigerians, including those in the informal sector.

PenCom’s Director-General, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, revealed the initiative in a statement on Monday.
According to her, the program will:
Ensure every Nigerian worker, including informal sector employees, has access to pension benefits.
Guarantee dignity for retirees through health insurance and a minimum pension floor.
Strengthen investment performance while protecting contributors’ assets.
Deliver sustainable, long-term returns that secure retirees’ futures.
“Pension Revolution 2.0 is the most significant advancement since 2004, bold in ambition, yet evolutionary in practice. It ushers in a new era of dignity for retirees, inclusion for every Nigerian worker, and resilience for our national economy,” Oloworaran stated.
Nigeria’s pension sector has faced repeated criticisms, ranging from delays in payments to lack of inclusion for informal workers. Revolution 2.0 seeks to address these gaps, positioning pension services as not just a safety net, but a tool for economic stability and social security.
