Taraba Assembly Approves N128bn Supplementary Budget for 2025
The Taraba State House of Assembly has approved a Supplementary Budget of over N128 billion for the 2025 fiscal year. The move, championed by Governor Agbu Kefas, aims to fund critical sectors not fully captured in the initial budget.

Details of the Budget
The funds will be drawn from the state’s Consolidated Revenue Fund.
Priority areas for the supplementary budget include:
Security
Healthcare
Agriculture
Governor Kefas also revealed that the State Executive Council had approved an additional N14 billion in financial requirements.
The measure was read for both first and second readings on the Assembly floor before being forwarded for further legislative scrutiny.
Legislative Process
Majority Leader Jethro Yakubu Zikengyu filed a point of order, which allowed the bill to progress to second reading.
Speaker John Kizito Bonzena referred the appropriation bill to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation for detailed review.
In the same sitting, the Taraba State Emblem Establishment Bill passed its first reading and was sent to the Rules and Business Committee for examination.
Governor Kefas stressed that the supplementary budget is designed to close gaps in the original 2025 appropriation, ensuring that urgent needs are met across the state.
If implemented effectively, the additional funding could strengthen Taraba’s response to security challenges, improve healthcare services, and revitalize the agricultural sector—a cornerstone of the state’s economy.
