Peter Obi Demands Justice and Support for Families of Fallen Security Officers
Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has raised alarm over the rising number of security officers killed on dutyacross Nigeria.

In a heartfelt statement shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, Obi insisted that Nigeria cannot continue to bury its men and women in uniform without adequately supporting their families.
According to Obi, the wave of tragic deaths in recent weeks highlights a deep national crisis:
Soldiers killed while combating insurgency.
Police officers lost during internal security operations.
NSCDC personnel and community vigilantes slain in service.
He emphasized that these losses are not just statistics but lives sacrificed for the safety and stability of Nigeria.
In a statement titled “Protecting our Security Operatives”, Obi stressed that supporting the families of fallen heroes is a matter of justice:
“Nigeria cannot continue to bury our men in uniform and leave their families abandoned. Our government must rise to the responsibility of ensuring that the wives, children, and parents of these fallen heroes are fairly compensated and supported. That is the least a grateful nation can provide. It is not charity, it is justice for those who laid down their lives so the rest of us can live.”
He also urged leaders to:
Equip and motivate security operatives more effectively.
Make security the foundation of governance.
Ensure the sacrifices of fallen heroes fuel determination to build a nation where every life matters.
Obi concluded with a prayer for the departed and encouragement for their families:
“To every fallen hero, may your soul rest in perfect peace. Your sacrifice and patriotism will never be forgotten. And to the families left behind, you are not alone. May God continue to provide you with strength and comfort.”
