Ogun Govt Insists on Stricter Standards for Sagamu 260m Road Project Sponsored by Senator Gbenga Daniel
The contractor handling the 260-meter road project in Sagamu, Ogun State, sponsored by Senator Gbenga Daniel of Ogun East, has formally recognized the engineering requirements set by the Ogun State Government. The project is under the supervision of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA).

In a letter dated September 26, 2025, Minim and Tonye, the construction firm, confirmed it had been directed by BCDA to commence drainage works according to specifications issued by the Ogun State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.
Drainage dimensions: 600mm x 600mm RC drain
Concrete specification: Grade 25 concrete
Purpose: To ensure uniformity with the existing drainage
Abimbola Ayodeji, the firm’s director, affirmed compliance with these requirements.
Earlier this month, the Ogun State Government ordered the contractor to pause construction, citing non-compliance with Federal Ministry of Works (FMW) road design standards.
In a letter dated September 22, 2025, the Ministry of Works flagged several issues:
Concrete binding should be minimum Grade 20.
Reinforced concrete base, pathways, and deck must use Grade 25 concrete or higher, with a yield tensile strength of 460 N/mm².
Contractor’s proposed 150mm Grade 20 pavement must be replaced with 220mm reinforced concrete pavementof Grade 35 or preferably Grade 40 concrete.
Stone base thickness should be 200mm minimum
