Wike Vows Response to Tambuwal’s Remarks on Tinubu
Tension is rising in Nigeria’s political scene. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has promised to respond to what he described as disparaging remarks made by Senator Aminu Tambuwal against both himself and President Bola Tinubu.

Wike assured Nigerians that the comments will not go unanswered and hinted at a public lesson on “integrity” and “betrayal.”
In a Friday interview, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, representing Sokoto South, expressed his preference for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to lead Nigeria in 2027 rather than President Tinubu.
Tambuwal said he would choose Atiku over Wike as well.
His comments were seen as dismissive toward both the current president and the FCT minister.
This reignited political rivalry rooted in past party alignments and defections.
Reacting through his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike maintained that he would not ignore the statements.
The minister’s statement included:
He has been inundated with calls from journalists seeking a response.
Tambuwal’s remarks also cast aspersions on President Tinubu, which will not go unchallenged.
At the appropriate time, Wike will address the nation and highlight what betrayal and integrity truly mean.
For now, Wike urged Nigerians to “keep their fingers crossed.”
