15 Killed as Gunmen Attack Bokkos and Mangu LGAs in Plateau State
At least 15 people have been killed following fresh attacks by unknown gunmen in Plateau State’s Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas (LGAs) on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
According to reports by Daily Trust, the violence broke out in Tangur village in Bokkos and Manja in the Chakfem kingdom of Mangu, with both attacks occurring at separate times.
“They came while we were already asleep,” said a resident from Tangur. “We heard gunshots and realized they had entered homes and started shooting sporadically.”
Sources in both communities said that eight people were killed in Bokkos, while seven died in Mangu. Residents described how the attackers stormed their villages quietly, moved from house to house, and opened fire without warning.
While the Manja attack occurred earlier in the day, the Tangur assault happened around 9 p.m., catching people in their sleep.
The gunmen reportedly stayed in the communities for an extended period before vanishing without confrontation or arrest.
As of the time of this report, the Plateau State Police Command has not issued any official statement regarding the attack. No arrests have been made, and no security reinforcement has been reported in the affected areas.
The silence from authorities has fueled fear, tension, and frustration among locals, who say they feel abandoned and unprotected.
