Troops Ordered to Crush Threats in Taraba as Army Opens Forward Operating Base in Wukari

In a bold move to fortify security and tackle rising criminal activities in Southern Taraba, the Nigerian Army has inaugurated a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Wukari, with a stern directive to troops: deal decisively with all security threats.

The Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, issued the order on Thursday during the official opening of the base, reaffirming the military’s zero tolerance for banditry, terrorism, and all criminality in the region.

According to a statement from Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Uwa charged the deployed troops with unwavering discipline, alertness, and professionalism.

“Troops are to dominate their area of responsibility. No bandit or terrorist should be allowed any freedom of action,” the commander instructed.

He also stressed the importance of protecting all military assets, maintaining a strong presence, and building community trust.

To underscore the Army’s readiness, Brig. Gen. Uwa immediately led a confidence-building patrol through Wukari town and surrounding communities. The aim, he said, was to reassure residents that the military is fully committed to protecting lives and property in the region.

The Army believes the new FOB will:

  • Enable rapid response to threats

  • Enhance intelligence gathering

  • Deepen civil-military relations

  • Restore lasting peace and order

“This forward base is a milestone. It signals a new era of proactive security and fast response in Southern Taraba,” said Capt. Oni.
