Troops Discover Hidden AK-47, Ammo Cache in Plateau’s Pandam Forest

In a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry, troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Operation SAFE HAVEN have uncovered a concealed weapons cache in Pandam Forest, located in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The discovery, made around 1:20 p.m. on June 3, included:

  • One AK-47 rifle

  • One magazine

  • 30 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the operation via a post on X (formerly Twitter), citing intelligence reports that bandits fleeing Operation LAFIYAN JAMA'A had stashed the weapons while hiding in the jungle.

“During the search, troops discovered a freshly dug area, which was immediately excavated,” the Nigerian Army stated.

“They recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and 30 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, all carefully concealed.”

The Nigerian Army confirmed that the seized items are now in their possession and that further investigations are ongoing to trace the origins and intended use of the weapons.

The operation is part of a broader offensive to disrupt criminal networks and secure areas long plagued by bandit attacks and illegal arms trafficking.
