Pastor Paul Adefarasin Released on Bail After Police Questioning Over Viral ‘Gun’ Incident

Senior Pastor of House on the Rock, Paul Adefarasin, was granted bail on Tuesday, just hours after he voluntarily appeared at the Lagos State Police Command for questioning regarding a viral video that stirred national controversy.

The announcement was made via the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Lagos Police Command.

In the video, which spread rapidly across social media last week, Pastor Adefarasin was seen brandishing what appeared to be a firearm at another motorist. The clip sparked public outrage and concern over the pastor’s actions.

According to CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, the object in question has now been confirmed to be a stun gun, not a firearm.

“What was recovered from him, the gun-like object seen in the viral video, is not a lethal weapon or firearm, but a stun gun, which is a prohibited anti-riot equipment,” the statement read.

Hundeyin added that the matter remains under investigation.

Although Pastor Adefarasin spoke briefly about the issue during a recent church service, he maintained that he had “never carried a gun” but did not clarify what exactly he was holding in the viral video.

His decision to appear before the police was reportedly in response to growing public pressure and ongoing speculation.
