Air Peace Calls Out Oshiomhole, Demands Airport CCTV Footage Over Extortion Allegations
Nigeria’s leading airline, Air Peace, has fired back at Senator Adams Oshiomhole, accusing the former Edo State Governor of spreading false allegations after he missed a flight and claimed passengers were extorted.
In a fiery statement released Thursday, the airline denied all claims of extortion and challenged Oshiomhole to provide concrete evidence to support his accusations.
Air Peace urged the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to release CCTV footage showing Oshiomhole’s movements at the airport. The airline insists this would expose the truth behind what transpired.
“We urge FAAN to make public the CCTV footage from the moment Senator Oshiomhole entered the airport,” Air Peace said.
“Nigerians deserve to see what truly happened.”
What Triggered the Clash?
According to the airline, Oshiomhole arrived late for his scheduled flight and became disruptive after he was denied boarding due to the closure of check-in.
The airline said the aircraft in question departed with over 30 empty seats, stressing that it would have been in their financial interest to accommodate Oshiomhole and other latecomers if that were possible.
“Our flight was never overbooked. No tickets were sold after check-in closed.
Every passenger onboard purchased their ticket earlier,” the statement added.
Air Peace went on to accuse Oshiomhole of causing chaos at the terminal, including:
-
Climbing onto the baggage conveyor belt
-
Blocking the entrance gate, disrupting passenger flow
-
Inciting other passengers against the airline
“His behavior was aggressive, inappropriate, and disgraceful,” Air Peace stated.
“He was not fighting for others. He simply came late and caused a scene.”
Oshiomhole, a seasoned politician and former labor leader, had earlier alleged that the airline extorted passengers and failed to manage its boarding procedures. But Air Peace called his remarks blatantly false and defamatory, warning that such statements harm the reputation of businesses striving to maintain high standards.
“The senator lied blatantly when he accused Air Peace of extorting passengers.
We challenge him to show even one passenger who was extorted,” the airline emphasized.
