Eid-el-Kabir: Goodluck Jonathan Calls for Unity, Sacrifice, and Shared Prosperity
As Muslims in Nigeria and around the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, former President Goodluck Jonathan has called for deeper reflection, unity, and renewed commitment to building a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
In a heartfelt Facebook message posted on Friday, Jonathan described the holiday as a powerful reminder of the enduring values of compassion, sacrifice, faith, and generosity.
“This significant day serves as a profound reminder of the virtues of faith, sacrifice, devotion, and generosity, which are values that resonate deeply across all humanity,” he wrote.
Jonathan noted that Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora have continually struggled and hoped for unity and shared prosperity, and Eid-el-Kabir is a moment to renew that commitment.
He urged citizens to recommit to building a future marked by lasting peace and collective progress, emphasizing that the celebration goes beyond religion and speaks to universal human values.
“On this blessed occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, I extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt felicitations to our Muslim brothers and sisters across Nigeria and around the world,” Jonathan said.
