KACRAN Applauds FAO and Federal Ministry for Pioneering Nigeria’s Agricultural Digital Transformation
The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has commended the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for initiating a bold move to digitize Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
In a statement signed by its National President, Khalil Mohd Bello, KACRAN described the initiative as a turning point for Nigerian farmers, pastoralists, and food security at large.
The praise follows the successful Digital Village Initiative (DVI) Inception Workshop, held in Lagos from May 7 to 9, 2025. The workshop focused on co-creating a National Integrated Digital Agriculture Platform (NIDAP)—a game-changing project designed to modernize agricultural systems across the country.
Bello noted that the workshop brought together over 100 stakeholders, including tech experts, academics, government officials, and community leaders, all working to enhance:
-
Digital farmer data systems
-
Agricultural value chain digitization
-
Post-harvest loss prevention
-
Innovation hubs such as solar-powered cold storage and AI-driven pest control
“KACRAN believes the implementation of these recommendations will undoubtedly multiply Nigeria’s agricultural output,” Bello emphasized.
KACRAN’s statement gave special recognition to Senator Abubakar Kyari, Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, for showing "enthusiasm, passion, and dedication" during the workshop. This, Bello said, rekindled hope for rural farmers and livestock rearers.
He also commended Mr. Kouacou Dominique Koffy, FAO’s Representative in Nigeria and ECOWAS, for his exceptional coordination and leadership, calling his team's contribution “vital” to the workshop’s success and future implementation.
