“Democracy is Taking Root in Taraba,” Governor Kefas Declares in Democracy Day Message

As Nigeria marks Democracy Day, Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has reaffirmed that democratic governance is steadily taking root across the country, despite persistent challenges.

In a heartfelt message delivered through his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello, Governor Kefas praised Nigerians for their resilience and contribution to strengthening democracy.

Reflecting on the nation’s democratic journey, Kefas highlighted the value of nation-building, patience, and unity, invoking the famous words from the national anthem:

“The labors of our heroes past shall never be in vain.”

He urged citizens to remain optimistic and committed to democratic principles that sustain institutions, encourage transparent governance, and amplify the voices of the people.

Governor Kefas also pointed to recent gains in security and public safety across the state, especially in Jalingo, which had previously been a hotspot for kidnappings and crime.

“Today, through hard work and commitment, we’ve made the state safe enough for residents to return and freely express their views. That’s part of the democratic progress we celebrate,” he said.

Governor Kefas emphasized his administration’s long-term vision, noting that deliberate planning is key to sustainable development.

“We are not in a hurry. I talk less and plan more,” he said. “If, after four years, we haven’t delivered, then the people can judge us accordingly.”

He announced that his administration now has a clear roadmap for developing critical infrastructure and improving lives across Taraba.

“It was worth the wait to ensure things are done properly and will stand the test of time,” he added.

Kefas concluded his Democracy Day message with a call for understanding, unity, and civic support, as his administration continues efforts to transform Taraba State into a model of democratic development and public service.
