Saudi Arabia to Broadcast 2025 Arafah Sermon in 37 Languages, Including Major Nigerian Dialects

In a historic move to foster global inclusion and spiritual unity, Saudi Arabia has announced that the 2025 Arafah sermon will be broadcast live in 37 languages, including Nigeria’s major tongues: Hausa, Yoruba, and Fulani.

The sermon, which takes place during the Hajj pilgrimage on June 5, 2025 (9 Dhul Hijjah 1446), is considered the most significant day of the Islamic pilgrimage. Pilgrims gather at Mount Arafat, while Muslims around the world observe the occasion with fasting, prayers, and reflection.

According to Saudi officials, the translation initiative aims to enhance accessibility and understanding of the Hajj Khutbah for Muslims across the globe.

“The Hajj Khutbah 1446 will be translated into 34 languages on Thursday, 9 Dhul Hijjah 1446,” the official statement noted.

Languages include Arabic, English, Urdu, French, Indonesian, Chinese (Mandarin), Russian, Bengali, Turkish, Malay, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, Tagalog, Amharic, Bosnian, Hindi, Dutch, Thai, Malayalam, Swahili, Pashto, Tamil, Azerbaijani, Swedish, Uzbek, Albanian, Somali, Rohingya, and the three prominent Nigerian languages Hausa, Yoruba, and Fulani.

This landmark effort is expected to reach millions of listeners worldwide, promoting a greater sense of unity and awareness about the spiritual depth and universal values of Hajj.
