Akpabio Returns from London, Denies Health Rumors

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has returned to Nigeria after what his media office described as a brief holiday in London.

Arriving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 4 a.m. on Monday, Akpabio was welcomed by senators, aides, and supporters.

His return followed widespread social media claims that he had been hospitalized in London due to illness. Addressing journalists at the airport, Akpabio dismissed the reports as false.

“There’s nothing like such. I’m fit as a fiddle. I only stopped over in London for a short vacation,” he said.

Akpabio assured Nigerians of “robust legislative engagements” once the Senate reconvenes from recess, stressing that the upper chamber is prepared to intensify its work on national issues.

Before traveling to the UK, Akpabio attended the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 29 to July 31. He said the Nigerian delegation played an important role in promoting stronger cooperation between branches of government and advancing democratic governance.
