Customs Seizes Expired Drugs Worth N130m at Lagos Port
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted expired pharmaceutical products worth more than N130 million in Lagos.

According to the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command, two 40-foot containers loaded with expired drugs were seized as part of its ongoing anti-smuggling operations.
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Eghosa Edelduok, disclosed the development during a media briefing in Lagos while presenting the Command’s first-half 2025 performance report.
She revealed that the containers, marked HLBU 1067338 and HLBU 2239792, contained expired pharmaceutical drugs in violation of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and other import regulations.
“The intercepted containers have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action,” Edelduok said, stressing the Command’s zero-tolerance stance toward infractions and its commitment to protecting public health.
Alongside enforcement achievements, Edelduok highlighted a significant boost in revenue.
The KLT Command generated N89.2 billion from January to June 2025.
This represents a 63% increase compared to N54.8 billion recorded in the same period of 2024.
The N34.4 billion difference was attributed to enhanced efficiency, stricter enforcement measures, and greater stakeholder cooperation.
Edelduok reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and professionalism, pledging continued collaboration with partner agencies.
“We remain dedicated to upholding service excellence in line with national security, economic growth, and public health protection,” she said, while thanking partner agencies for their role in the Command’s success.
