Three Killed in Plateau Community Attack

A suspected Fulani militia attack on Gwon-Rim village in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State has left three people dead, several others injured, and properties worth millions of naira destroyed.

Residents said the assault occurred early Wednesday when over 50 armed men stormed the community, firing sporadically. Livestock were stolen, shops looted, and cars and houses set ablaze, forcing villagers to flee into nearby bushes.

Riyom LGA chairman, Hon. Sati Bature Shuwa, who visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment, condemned the incident as “uncalled for, unjustified, and unacceptable.” He urged residents to remain calm, assuring them that security agencies had been directed to track down and apprehend the perpetrators.

Shuwa also visited victims receiving treatment at the hospital, reiterating his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
