Katsina Allocates ₦20m Per LGA for Cemetery Care
The Katsina State government has earmarked ₦20 million for each local government to maintain and rehabilitate cemeteries across the state.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda made the announcement on Thursday during a meeting with traditional leaders from the Katsina and Daura Emirates.
According to him, the initiative serves both the public good and the spiritual well-being of the state.
“We have set aside ₦20 million for each local government to ensure our graveyards are well taken care of. This is part of our service to the people and also a way of seeking Allah’s blessings for Katsina,” Radda said.
Beyond cemetery rehabilitation, Governor Radda unveiled a broader welfare package for traditional and religious leaders:
District Heads: Salary upgrades to at least Grade Level 16 under a new state law.
Imams & Assistants: More than 3,000 clerics from Friday mosques will receive monthly stipends.
Ward Leaders: Around 6,652 leaders across the state to start receiving allowances.
Mosque Sweepers: Monthly allowances approved for sweepers serving in Izala and Darika mosques across all 34 LGAs.
Governor Radda also emphasized the state’s commitment to security. He revealed that:
Over 1,500 youths have been trained and equipped to support community-based security operations.
The government views security as a shared responsibility requiring cooperation between authorities, traditional leaders, and citizens.
The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir-Usman, represented by Senator Ibrahim Ida, the Wazirin Katsina, commended the governor for his efforts to improve welfare and strengthen community development.
The initiative reflects a blend of governance, cultural respect, and spiritual consideration. While cemetery rehabilitation addresses public infrastructure needs, the welfare packages and youth engagement programs are designed to promote stability and social cohesion in Katsina State.
