Sokoto Police Disburse N14.1 Million to Families of Fallen and Injured Officers

The Sokoto State Police Command has disbursed over ₦14.1 million to families of officers who were either killed or injured while on active duty.

The payment, totaling ₦14,120,491.70, was distributed during a brief ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Sokoto. The funds were issued under three national welfare schemes: the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare SchemeGroup Life Assurance, and Group Personal Accident Scheme.

The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Umar Abubakar Sokoto, representing Commissioner of Police Ahmed Musa. Speaking on behalf of the CP, Abubakar emphasized that the initiative is designed to offer financial relief to families affected by the line-of-duty tragedies.

“This effort is meant to provide some form of respite to the families of our brave officers. We encourage beneficiaries to use the funds wisely,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Attahiru Sulaiman, expressed appreciation on behalf of the others and assured the Command that the money would be used responsibly.

“We’re grateful for this support. It means a lot to our families during these difficult times,” he said.

Police Vow Continued Support

The Sokoto Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of both serving and retired officers, as well as the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

“We will continue to prioritize the well-being of our personnel, both active and fallen, and ensure their families are not forgotten,” the statement concluded.
