Police Probe Violence at Kaduna Political Gathering
An inquiry into a violent incident that broke out during a political gathering purportedly connected to former governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai has been opened by the Kaduna State Police Command.

On Saturday, violence broke out at the ADC Transition Committee inauguration in Kaduna. Reports indicate that groups of youths armed with machetes, clubs, and stones disrupted the gathering, leaving several people injured and damaging vehicles at the venue.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the incident, noting that the rally was held without prior notification to the police or security agencies.
Preliminary findings suggest the violence stemmed from a clash between rival political supporters.
Hassan said the police are gathering more details and will take necessary action to maintain peace in the state.
The state leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) distanced itself from the violence, stating it had no knowledge of the political rally.
They emphasized their commitment to law and order, urging supporters to remain peaceful and avoid acts that could destabilize the state.
Kaduna has long been a political hotspot, and incidents like this highlight the ongoing challenges of managing political gatherings in Nigeria. Police insist that prior notification is critical to prevent violence and ensure adequate security presence.
