CAC Slams COZA Pastor Over Comments on Apostle Babalola

The Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) has criticized Commonwealth of Zion Assembly’s lead pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo, for remarks it described as “callous and ignorant” about Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, the church’s first General Evangelist.

In one of his teachings, Fatoyinbo said Babalola was highly anointed but “had no money,” and mockingly asked, “Where are his children?”

CAC Director of Publicity Pastor Ade Alawode rejected the claims, saying they misrepresented Babalola’s life and ministry.
“To equate anointing with material wealth is biblically flawed,” he said, citing Luke 12:15 and warning against “prosperity theology” that fuels greed and corruption.

Alawode described Babalola as a humble leader who supported education, fed the poor, and lived sacrificially without exploiting the pulpit. He noted the apostle owned a home, drove a Ford Jeep, and was honored by Queen Elizabeth II during her 1956 visit to Nigeria.

He confirmed Babalola had two children, Mama Eunice Wuraola Ogini and Apeke Adeniyi, who are alive, blessed, and active in ministry.

“Apostle Babalola’s anointing continues to impact generations more than six decades after his passing,” Alawode added.
