Zamfara Governor Vows No Negotiations with Bandits
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has restated his administration’s uncompromising stance against negotiating with bandits, pledging to confront insecurity head-on.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Sulaiman Baba Idris, the governor made it clear that his government will deal decisively with those terrorizing the state, while prioritizing the safety of residents and the reconstruction of affected communities.
Lawal spoke during his ongoing tour of villages recently attacked by bandits, including Kagara, Dan Isa, and Kasuwar Daji in Kauran Namoda Local Government Area. The visits were aimed at consoling victims, assessing damages, and reviewing security needs on the ground.
“On Wednesday, I began a condolence tour to communities targeted by bandits,” the governor said. “Security will always be my administration’s top priority, and every effort is being made to protect lives and property in Zamfara.”
From the start of his tenure, Governor Lawal has maintained that the state will not negotiate with bandits. He emphasized that this policy remains unchanged due to the persistent lack of sincerity and remorse displayed by criminal groups.
The governor also highlighted the poor state of roads leading to the affected areas, promising immediate attention to road repairs. He noted that better infrastructure will not only improve access for security operations but also boost economic activity in rural communities.
Key Points from the Governor’s Visit:
Direct engagement with victims of recent attacks.
Reaffirmation of a no-negotiation policy with bandits.
Commitment to road rehabilitation in conflict-affected areas.
