Taraba Policeman Dismissed for Stealing Goat

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a police constable in Taraba State for stealing a goat, in a case that underscores the Force’s commitment to enforcing discipline and addressing misconduct.

According to an official signal from Commissioner of Police DFA Jalingo, the officer, identified as PC Usman Mohammed of the Mutum Biyu Division, was found guilty of theft and dismissed from service.

The dismissal was carried out in line with the Police Act and Regulation 370, Cap 389 of the 2010 Laws of the Federation (as amended). The offence falls under paragraph ‘E’ of the First Schedule of the Police Act, which permits immediate termination for certain categories of misconduct.

The disciplinary measures included:

  • Termination of Mohammed’s appointment.

  • Stoppage of salary and benefits.

  • Retrieval of all official documents, including his police ID card.

  • Permanent record of dismissal in his service file.

Police authorities emphasized that the action followed due disciplinary procedures and was aimed at upholding the integrity of the Force.
