Kogi Governor Pledges Support for Pension Reforms
Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo has pledged continued support for pension reforms and retirees’ welfare, according to the National Pension Commission (PenCom).

The announcement followed the governor’s courtesy visit to PenCom’s Director General, Omolala Oloworaran, in Abuja on Monday.
Governor Ododo emphasized that his administration is committed to:
Timely payment of monthly gratuities.
Settlement of outstanding pension arrears.
Sustained improvements in the pension sector, an effort he noted began before his election as governor.
In her remarks, DG Omolala Oloworaran commended Governor Ododo’s dedication to retirees’ well-being and acknowledged his role in addressing long-standing pension challenges.
She affirmed PenCom’s readiness to collaborate with the Kogi State Government to strengthen pension administration and safeguard the welfare of workers and retirees.
Both parties reaffirmed a joint commitment to building a transparent, sustainable pension system that guarantees financial security for employees in retirement.
The development comes amid wider pension debates:
President Bola Tinubu recently directed PenCom to raise police officers’ pensions.
The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has threatened to strike unless the federal government constitutes a governing board for PenCom.
