Kebbi Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Defeating Banditry

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has reiterated his administration’s strong commitment to tackling banditry and criminal activities threatening the state.

Speaking after an enlarged security conference in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, Idris commended the dedication of security personnel fighting armed groups across the region.

The governor acknowledged persistent threats along Kebbi’s border with the Niger Republic, where bandits have staged hit-and-run attacks in local government areas.

He said security forces had identified infiltration routes and stepped up operations to disrupt the movements of criminal groups.

Idris noted that the security chiefs’ conference focused on consolidating recent successes in the fight against insecurity.

He stressed the importance of collaboration across all tiers of governance, adding that states, local governments, and communities must work together instead of relying solely on the federal government.

The meeting brought together commanders from multiple agencies, including:

• Nigerian Army

• Nigerian Air Force

• Police

• Civil Defence

• Department of State Services (DSS)

• Customs and Immigration

• National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)

• Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)

• Nigerian Correctional Service

• Local vigilante groups

The governor praised their synergy and urged communities to continue providing timely intelligence to sustain momentum against bandits.
